In 2010, multidisciplinary designer Ilan El established Ilanel Design Studio, a product design practice specialising in the design and production of bespoke lighting and large-scale light-based installations.
Along with a team of local artisans and fabricators, Ilan El composes modern pieces inspired by natural phenomena. Trained in architecture and raised by creative parents, an obvious desire for discovery is applied to each work.
Reflections of nature and its cycle are celebrated throughout the lighting collections, maintaining a raw connection to softness and science. There is a silent statement of power and human potential in the industrial edge to the design which pushes it into an experiential realm. The combination of experience, observation and function are the basis of what would otherwise be a purely decorative piece.
Ilanel make a conscious effort to design low impact environmental lighting. By using considered materials and processes, the design studio is in touch with the path of every object from concept to the end of its life cycle.
